What can I upload?

Does muting lower the video quality?
Not for a standard H.264 MP4 or MOV up to 1080p: the picture is copied as it is and only the sound is removed. Other formats (HEVC, WebM, 4K) are converted to an H.264 MP4 of up to 1080p.
